What is it used for?

It is primarily ideal for three-phase residential systems where the goal is to maximize the use of self-generated power. The stored energy reduces grid consumption during peak periods, and the EPS (backup) output supplies designated loads in the event of a power outage. Thanks to its IP65 rating and heating function, it is suitable for outdoor installation, even in unheated rooms or outdoors, which is a real advantage given Hungarian winter conditions.

How does it work?

The inverter continuously manages the flow of energy between the solar panels, the battery, the grid, and the loads. During the day, excess energy charges the EP12, and in the evening and morning, the battery powers the home, so you need to draw less energy from the grid. In the event of a power outage, the inverter automatically switches to emergency mode and keeps priority loads running via the backup circuit. The EP12 stores energy at a high voltage (approx. 384 V), which reduces losses and facilitates future expansion.

Technical and System-Level Benefits

On the PV side, the inverter operates with 2 MPPT trackers and accepts approximately 11 kWp of panel power, allowing for easy management of split or differently oriented roof surfaces. The EP12 operates with a 90% depth of discharge (DoD) and ≥95% discharge cycle efficiency, so you can realistically expect ~10.4 kWh of usable capacity from the approximately 11.5 kWh nominal capacity. The system comes with SG Ready and FoxCloud V2.0 remote monitoring (app and web interface), and the three-phase output helps balance the phase load. Differences

The P3-S inverter series is available in power ranges from 5 to 15 kW; this package includes the 5 kW entry-level three-phase model, which is designed for properties with low to medium energy consumption. Compared to single-phase hybrid systems, the main differences are phase load balancing and the option for three-phase backup. The 12 kWh starter battery is a good starting point: if consumption increases later, the battery side can be expanded separately without having to replace the inverter.

Important to know

The inverter’s AC output is limited to 5 kW, so for properties with very high simultaneous loads or multiple heat pumps, it’s better to consider the larger P3-S model. The battery’s rated charge/discharge current is also limited, meaning that the extraction of stored energy falls within the system-wide 5 kW limit—which is more than sufficient for normal residential use. Thanks to its heating function, the system can be installed even in cold, unheated environments, but a three-phase grid connection is a prerequisite here.
