What is it used for?

Three-phase residential systems, larger single-family homes, and smaller commercial and industrial (C&I) sites. The 6 kW inverter output and approximately 11.5 kWh storage capacity are well-suited to the power consumption of a larger-than-average household or a small office or workshop. Thanks to its uninterruptible power supply (EPS) output, it can continue to power designated critical loads even during a power outage. With an IP65 rating, it can be installed outdoors—it does not require a separate heated equipment room.

How does it work?

The inverter continuously monitors generation and consumption and determines what to do with the energy: if there is a surplus, it charges the EP12; if there is a shortage, it draws from the EP12 or the utility grid. It has two MPPT inputs, allowing two solar panel strings with different orientations or tilt angles to be optimized separately. In the event of a grid outage, it automatically switches to EPS mode and powers the designated circuits from the stored energy. The entire system can be monitored via the FoxCloud V2.0 interface, either on a mobile device or through a web browser.

Technical and System-Level Benefits

The P3-6.0-SH can handle up to ~13.2 kW DC input with a rated AC output of 6 kW, allowing the solar array to be oversized—which means higher net yield even in winter and on cloudy days. The EP12’s HV architecture operates at a higher system voltage, resulting in lower currents and thus a discharge cycle efficiency of ≥95%. Due to the 90% depth of discharge, approximately 10.4 kWh of the ~11.5 kWh capacity is actually usable. The battery can be paralleled as needed (up to 4 units, up to approximately 46 kWh), so the system can be expanded later without having to replace the inverter. It also features SG Ready, DRM, and smart meter support, which facilitate operation under regulated or dynamic pricing plans.

Differences

The P3-S series is available in capacities ranging from 5 to 15 kW—the 6 kW version falls within the typical three-phase residential range. For higher consumption or larger solar arrays, the 8–10 kW models are a more realistic choice; the 6 kW model generally offers the best price-to-performance ratio for medium-sized systems. On the storage side, the EP12 is highly scalable thanks to its LFP chemistry and HV design: you can start with a single unit and expand later as your needs grow.

Important to know

The “12 kWh” here refers to a single EP12 unit (~11.52 kWh rated, ~10.4 kWh usable)—it is sized for moderate storage needs. The preheater function is optional: with it, the battery can be charged down to -25°C; without it, charging is recommended above 0°C, so be sure to factor this in for cold, outdoor installations. AFCI arc fault protection is also an optional accessory. The package is designed for three-phase systems and is not suitable for single-phase networks.
