The Huawei DTSU666-FE is a three-phase, Class 1 accuracy smart meter module designed primarily for use with electric vehicle chargers. Its task is to monitor grid energy flow in real time and ensure intelligent charging control—preventing grid overload and optimizing solar energy usage.
Why is a meter needed with an EV charger?
Charging an electric vehicle places a high and fluctuating load on the grid. The DTSU666-FE continuously measures the household’s total energy consumption and provides real-time data to the charger. Thanks to this, the system dynamically regulates charging power: if the solar panels generate enough energy, the charger speeds up; if grid capacity is limited, it automatically slows down.
Accuracy and Communication
The DTSU666-FE operates with Class 1 measurement accuracy: voltage ±0.5%, current and energy ±1%, frequency ±0.01 Hz. It communicates via an RS485 interface (Modbus-RTU) and a Fast Ethernet (FE) connection and can be mounted on a DIN35 rail. It can be used in both single-phase and three-phase (3P4W/3P3W) networks, with a measurement range of 0–100 A (using 3 x 100 A / 40 mA CTs).
