The P3-50-Plus is a three-phase hybrid inverter with a rated power of 50 kW designed for the commercial and industrial (C&I) sector. This system serves as the central hub, simultaneously managing solar generation, the high-voltage (HV) battery, grid input and output, and the load side. The “Plus” series is designed for higher-capacity sites where both backup power and self-consumption optimization are equally important.

What is it used for?

Typical applications include SME sites, agricultural operations, smaller manufacturing facilities, or office buildings where daytime consumption is significant and a three-phase connection is available. At these locations, storing and intelligently distributing the energy generated can reduce grid consumption and peak load charges (peak shaving). In the event of a power outage, critical loads continue to operate without interruption. It also performs well in a microgrid configuration, even when combined with a generator.

How does it work?

The inverter receives power from the solar strings on the high-voltage (HV) side (180–950 V) and distributes the incoming energy according to priority: first, current consumption; second, battery charging; and finally, feeding power back into the grid (if permitted). During a power outage, it switches to EPS mode in less than 10 ms, so consumers receive backup power virtually without noticing. It handles 100% asymmetrical three-phase loads, meaning you can place the entire load on a single phase—which is almost always the case in real-world installations. Operation can be monitored and adjusted in real time via the FoxCloud V2.0 interface.

Technical and System-Level Benefits

The battery side is compatible with HV LFP (LiFePO₄) systems, featuring three battery ports and a total charging/discharging current of 240 A (80+80+80), along with CAN communication—enabling fast charging and greater storage capacity. On the PV side, up to 100 kW of panels can be connected to the 50 kW inverter (2x DC/AC oversizing), up to a system voltage of 1,000 V, with independent MPP trackers. With a peak efficiency of 98.5% and a European efficiency of 98.1%, very little energy is lost during conversion. The IP65 rating, the –30…+60 °C operating range, and smart air cooling allow for outdoor installation, while the built-in AFCI, overvoltage (Class II), insulation, and ground fault protection reduce the design burden. On the DC-Link side, it is also prepared for connecting an EV charger (50 kW).

Differences

The P3 Plus series ranges from 50 to 125 kW (50 / 60 / 75 / 80 / 100 / 125 kW), and the 50 kW model is the entry-level option. If your site’s power consumption or solar array capacity exceeds this, you can scale up to larger models using the same logic and interface—there’s no need to rethink the design, just adjust the sizing. In the residential category, however, this power rating is already oversized; smaller, single-phase, or 3–15 kW hybrid models are more suitable for that market.

Important to Know

This is a high-voltage (HV) inverter, so it must be designed specifically for an HV battery pack—it will not operate with an LV battery. A three-phase grid connection is required, and a backup runtime of more than 6 hours can only be achieved with appropriately sized battery capacity. It is a good choice if the goal is commercial and industrial self-consumption combined with a stable backup supply in a single unit, rather than a smaller residential system.
