BATTERY for an existing NON-HYBRID solar power system—without inverter replacement or permit application
The Solar Mate is a DC-DC converter that connects to the existing system on the DC side—the AC side of the inverter remains unaffected, so no permit is required. You route the DC cables from the solar strings through the Solar Mate back to the existing non-hybrid inverter, and the battery is connected directly on the DC side.

Measurements are taken via a dedicated smart meter that handles two measurement points simultaneously: one on the main utility line and one at the AC output of the string inverter. Based on this, the Solar Mate regulates the energy fed into the DC side. Two lock sets are required for single-phase systems, and six for three-phase systems.
It is compatible with virtually any existing on-grid inverter—with the exception of SolarEdge, which cannot be used due to its optimized DC communication.
Two main use cases: converting an existing non-hybrid system into a storage system, and for hybrid inverter systems where the price of the factory-installed battery is unacceptable to the customer—the Solar Mate + Dyness combination provides the same functionality at a more competitive price.
Dyness currently offers one of the best prices per kilowatt-hour on the market, so even when combined with the installation cost of the Solar Mate, it can be a more affordable solution than the proprietary storage systems of many premium manufacturers.
Important to note: Solar Mate is not suitable for backup functionality—in the event of a power outage, the system cannot operate in off-grid mode. A hybrid inverter is required for off-grid operation.
According to current grid regulations, only 2.5 kW of capacity is permitted when installing a new inverter—with the Solar Mate, the existing inverter remains in place, so this limit does not apply.
The device is natively compatible exclusively with Dyness high-voltage batteries. For low-voltage Dyness batteries, a booster unit is required to boost the voltage to the ~600 V DC required by Solar Mate.
